I went through a period where I was ultradian cycling and had 6 cycles between mania and depression in a single day--that was my record and the hospital said it was due to bipolar, not BPD. This was induced by antidepressants.
My usual is cycling every 2-3 months though.
To answer your question it's probably rapid cycling bipolar, not BPD.
