I'm stupid. I'm bad. I don't hate New Year's, I'm just indifferent to it. I often find myself mildly anticipating "changeovers" like New Year's or my birthday, even though I have no desire to celebrate. I don't believe in the "arbitrariness" of calendars, using the change to a new year as a mark for renewal is no different than using the start of a new week or month to make a change. Hell, i even took part in a "2017 master plan" project, planning out and organizing goals to start or accomplish starting in the new year. It seemed as good a time as any and the structure was helpful, I didn't realize it was bad...
I don't hate holidays or see anything stupid or bad in them, I just don't care for celebration.
EDIT: You guys know that calendar time isn't completely arbitrary, right? Days refer to the rotation of the Earth, months follow lunar cycles, and one year is one revolution around the sun. Sure, you think, but what's the big deal about going around the sun - I think it makes a little more sense if you think about it symbolically. Like, the Earth is restarting its course around the sun, so we get to restart whatever efforts or goals we have, we get some time of renewal. Of course, it's hard to care about any of that when your days tend to blend together anyway.
