Yes, but I know him enough to know he wouldn't text me on New Year's eve. He might have if I had texted first but I'd already given him a card with my wishes for him on the last session of the year and I don't think he needed more. He wished me happy holidays and told me I can call him if I have an emergency and asked about strategies of dealing with my toxic family even though I didn't bring it up. I take that as his holiday wishes and caring about me.

Last year I gave him a Christmas card and forgot new year wishes and sent him a text on new year's eve. He did get back to me right away to say thanks and send some good wishes of his own for me.
