Probably not a popular opinion here, but I don't think IQ is an accurate descriptor for one's intelligence. Literally, WAIS IV has an entire section dedicated to assessing your knowledge, and my problem with that is knowledge and intelligence are two separate entities.
While I realize that it's difficult to test for "intelligence" without testing for knowledge, we don't need to go as far as asking, "who is the author of [insert book name here]?" (which is an actual question on one of the versions of WAIS IV). Just because someone hasn't learnt what something is, it doesn't mean we should penalize them for it. Learnt knowledge and intelligence are not related.. There are plenty of people who suck at learning but are quite intelligent. So... test for learning disabilities separately. Same with testing for attention span separately. My poor attention span due to ADHD is not representative of my abilities.
Besides, being a good test taker is different from being intelligent. Some people have test anxiety or just suck at test taking altogether. Others can quickly figure out how to game the test (which is what I did). So I think my score is higher than it should have been.
