My father fell ill with a stroke last week and I have been inundated with inconsiderate nosy enquiries from people - most of whom are complete strangers to me. It has come to the point that I simply reply back that the I wish to keep such information private. I tell them only that information they need to know (that the event in fact happened and he is recovering nicely). In other words, I am telling them to mind their own business.

When it comes to them 'offering' their unwelcome suggestions, you might tell them that you have your reasons not to.
Sort of. I find it odd. I don't think talking to someone would do any good. I just brush it off but yeah it has made me uncomfortable. I could easily just find another location to go to if neccessary. I really don't see a problem with walking in early, as long as I am not in anyone's way. Most people actually like that, especially those who are higher up.
