My friend Josh is 18(I forgot if he is still 17 or is 18 now) but that isn't important. Ever since he saw a physatrist(spelling?) in 2009 and the physatrist found out he had depression and social anxiety, his parents had him on "lock down"/ "punishment" they homeschooled him but they stopped teaching him 4 years ago and he hasn't gone through all of the hs grades because he wasn't given any books. He has had no social interaction with people his age since 2009, the only social interaction he has is on holidays when he gets to see his family members(aunt uncles) he has mentioned he gets panic attacks that he can't help during that and which causes his parents to yell/ hit him on the way home. So, why don't most parents punish their kids for having a mental illness such as what Josh has(social anxiety, depression) or the other mental illnesses(ocd, ptsd, autism, asperbers, hyprocondriat, normal anxiety, panic attacks, skitzophrenia) I am 2 years younger than him we only talk through email I have not seen him since 2009 when we were really younger. My parents get mad at me to for my mental illness but not to the extreme of josh's. why do his parents do it?
