I'm been suffering from depression, on and off, for about 15 years, (and anxiety since I was a child) and most recently severe post partum depression for the last 10 months since my son was born. I was on meds during my pregnancy, and increased twice post partum before all hell broke loose, and I was briefly hospitalized and actually go to see a psychiatrist (not a GP - no one would give me a referral before this!).

I took about 4.5 weeks off after my son was born, then went back to my high stress, 50-60 hour a week small business. I managed to work like this for 3-4 months before I just couldn't anymore. Then it was 2 more months before my hospitalization and a psychiatrist who could actually get me on a combo of meds that worked.

I have only a few memories from the time between when my son was born and when I was hospitalized. That's 6 months of largely nothing. Is this normal? I've been depressed to varying degrees for many years, but I've never suffered memory loss, and it freaks me out, honestly. Has anyone else experience this, either post partum or in general?
