EMDR helped with my daughter's ptsd--symptoms like flashbacks and nightmares were greatly reduced, her social anxiety got a bit better as well. Still needed meds to help with the depression but emdr seemed to be of benefit. There were some hard hard sessions, tough memories to desk with, a lot of anger and grief to work through. She was in talk therapy for years with no real progress too. Her therapist suggested emdr when not much else we tried helped so it wasn't our first choice and I don't think it was an easy out for her t. I think it's one of the few therapies that research suggests is actually effective for it's which is notoriously difficult to treat.
