I had an incident at work a few years ago. I was diagnosed with PTSD from it. I told my new boss who told me I had to find another job and then put my trigger directly as my lead. Fast forward 8 months-most of 80 employees are not happy. It's extremely bad, boss is under fire and feeling the stress (I believe by her behavior). I cannot go into details but let's just say, boss is or should be worried about her job. The other day she told a coworker, I think all of my staff has PTSD and they need counseling. That highly offended me and when I talk about it offending me to those who do not have PTSD, they don't understand.

I feel the statement was making fun or light of a mental illness whether it be PTSD, bipolar or any other mental illness. Out of 80 employees, about 10 are direct targets of which I am one of the 10. I would go further to say I'm a top 5, maybe the top 3. Even though I can't prove it, I'm betting she got her PTSD diagnosis for everyone from me. Just a guess but it would follow a pattern for her. If any other employee had announced that everyone was bipolar and needed counseling, we'd be written up.

I'm trying to figure out why I felt so offended. Was she making light of a mental issue, was she making fun of my diagnosis, is it legal, etc. I just don't know why I'm so upset with her remark and hoping someone could come up with any ideas.
