Yes. It is a trigger. People at work know instinctively not to approach us from behind or touch us without warning. Out of work we don't experience touch, deliberately.
Our children sometimes try to touch us. Sometimes we can tolerate it. When we are not at all triggered and when we are in the right 'frame of mind'. Much of the time they know when and when not to approach. There are times when they definitely know not to approach. Our eldest has learned to ask for touch when she needs it. When needed we can often give it, even if not able to tolerate receiving it.
Yes, touch makes us switch.
