Complex PTSD has never been put into the DSM5, as that. There are other sub sections under PTSD that they say explain, and encompass CPTSD. Maybe one day they will add it, since it seems to be such a popular diagnosis now. We can only hope. If you approach a T and ask them about CPTSD most will have that deer in the head lights look, because they are unaware of this name. Plus when they have to file insurance they can't list it as CPTSD, usually they put the PTSD code. This makes it hard for us to understand, feel like our condition is not recognized and that there are few people out there that could help us with this. And it's true. Very frustrating.
