I wouldn't leave him, I would talk over the situation with him. I think you can trust him to be "fair" and explain what is going on? 14 years is a long time; I think he likes having you as a patient as much as you enjoy having had the same pdoc for all those years and not having to "start over". Don't let one problem wreck the relationship, see if you can work it out.
