Hi there,
PTSD can be brought on by such a vast array and multitude of things, it's very difficult to answer this in a generalized sense. There are a plethora of details one would need to be made aware of, concerning your particular case, what the onset was, how it's affecting or impairing you or others, how long its been going on, etc, etc, etc, before one would be able to gain an understanding of the complexity of your (any given) case, allowing them the time and opportunity to be able to diagnose and treat you.
As some of the others have already stated, it can last until the end of your existence (and if you believe in the afterlife...maybe it continues...hahaha). Sorry, just a bit of humor there. But, all jokes aside, I've been there, and still am. Been 10 years now, and I'm still very much in the middle of this struggle. I sure hope to be 'better' as soon as possible, but, implementing the use of reason and rationale, from a semi-educated position on these types of issues, given my particular situation, I don't know if I'll ever again reach a state of 100% homeostasis -- though, that sure is my aim. Really, I just want to be able to enjoy life again, on any level.....
Best to you bud -- be well & try to do more of the things that make you happy!
