In 2011, I was on Zyprexa and gained weight rapidly.
I am back on Zyprexa, albeit a lower dose, and this time I have been very, very careful and so far (it's been over a month) have been able to avoid any weight gain.
Apparently, this is thanks to:
1) eating soup every day (there are 15 soups I like to eat and I rotate through them)
2) drinking a TON of liquid. In addition to drinking frequently for pleasure, I drink "as work" twice a day: 4 cups of black tea in the morning and 4 cups of hibiscus tea in the evening. So instead of 8 cups of liquid a day I consume twice as much. I think this is the main trick.
3) portioning food
4) drinking tea after a meal if still feeling hungry - drinking tea and simply waiting makes me not hungry anymore
5) eating a whole artichoke with mayonnaise about every other day - a very slow eating process
6) limiting refined carbs
7) eating full fat products, such as sour cream, to feel full faster
I hope this can aid fellow Zyprexa-takers and others who are on weight-gaining meds.
Natasha
