I've been screwed a whole lot myself, so...I don't know exactly what you're going through, but I kinda --get it--, anyway. In my situation, there was/is a bunch of small town BS, and I'm stigmatized+low-status (thanks, psychiatry), so I'm expected to "know my place in society," etc. etc. etc.
I don't know if its 21st century America or if its just...the 21st century....but people generally don't care about each other, it seems. Facebook friends? You betcha! Just wait until things get the least bit heavy, and...buh bye.
I'm blessed to have my parents. A lot of people don't get that, especially as they get older. Other than that, I have --1-- genuine, real friend I can have a normal, real, human conversation with. Its odd...I mean, its not like we're forever being emotional or whatever, we're just real friends with a real connection, and that seems increasingly rare in modern society.
I have "friends" who are more like acquaintances, and they're OK. There's definite limits to our "friendships," so I mostly don't bother investing a whole lot, either.
Sorry this is happening. :-)
