A friend of 20 years had a surprise pregnancy- due this month. Sunday she turned 39 weeks. I told her she should deliver this week because I had all mine at 39 weeks, but she said most of hers were born at 42 so she still had 3 more weeks. She'd been seeing a midwife. And the last several weeks (months?) she's had a nasty chest infection. She was taking steroids for it because she's allergic to most antibiotics, but the steroids stopped working. She finally got an appointment with a lung specialist for soon. Today, she went in for her usual midwife appointment. She was afraid she'd have to be induced. So I went out to eat with my 19-year-old when I got a text from her. I had him read it to me. She said the baby died. I am in shock. I started crying for her. I'm still so sad. She wasn't even overdue! Now she texts me and she hasn't even started labor yet. Forget me. This is about her. She is strong and she has so much more to go through. This will never be over.
