A therapist with a different (more depth psychology) approach pointed out that the fact that I wasn't responded to much (emotionally) as a child might be at the root of it. A baby knows it exists because it is reflected in mother's eyes - but what if the mother (because of her own pathology) cannot actually SEE the infant as its own little person? Not sure if being aware of this will help though :/
