I remember back when I started having the very bad panic attacks with heart symptoms and I was working at a call center.

I needed time off, a leave of abscence, which my doctor approved. He wrote me a note, simply stating that I needed a few weeks off for medical reasons. Well when I took the note back to work, our HR department tried to tell me that the note was not good enough - they wanted to know exactly what was wrong with me specified on the note. Well I cried and cried all the way back to my desk. One of the supervisors, a girl, came up and took me into an office and had me explain what was going on. Well, when I did, she got MAD on my behalf. She told me she thought it was basically deplorable that they would give other people LOA so easily, and give me, a person with real problems, a hard time. She went right into HR and went to bat for me, and BOY she was strong about it.

It really felt great to have someone go to bat for me and she helped me to get the time off that I needed.

Its great to have people like that in our lives.
