it stems from trauma. I would have to know a great deal more to describe to you what she is dealing with. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder obviously developes from the experience of what is usually an extreme trauma. This can be from a single event to being triggered by repetitive situations.

Now, not all people go through trauma the same way. A good example is bullying. Some people move on from this with relative ease while for others it becomes traumatic.

Another example is somethig happening like being a participant or witness to a horrific car accident.

We more commonly think though of PTSD occuring from things like sexual assaults, military battlefield experiences, abuse, etc.

There are enumerable ways in which the consequences of PTSD come about. People can become trapped in their memories/thoughts.

examples of emotional responses can include panic attacks, dissociation, depression, aggression, etc.

I have PTSD myself. I won't detail my personal story only to say that I went through most of my adult life managing to keep it locked away until an assault happened in my workplace and it all came crashing out.
