My Dr. told me I have to drink at least two protein shakes a day and to add lots of cheese, meat, etc. I have ulcerative colitis and IBS and she, (and another specialist), says my body absorbs very little of my protein intake and that the myelin (sp) sheaths which cover my nerves are dying. That means I will have more and more nueropathy and less and less control of my hands, feet, legs, etc.
I do not like meat except for bacon and ham. It's weird I know, but it's true. I can't live on bacon and ham. Panic disorder makes me choke on meat other than the above. It's just a symptom of it. I don't know why.
I got some protein powder and tried to mix it up and it's one of the worst tasting things I've ever tried.
I plan to check on how much protein there is in the powder compared to Ensure High Protein shakes.
I am allergic to bananas and I can't have anything with seeds so that leaves out strawberries and blueberries. I can have very little fruit and all of it has to be canned.
I bought a smoothie machine. I put in 1 cup lactose free low fat milk, 4 ice cups, the powder and 2 scoops of frozen yogurt. I managed to keep it down but it doesn't taste very good. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks to all for reading.
Hugs,
Jan
