Doesn't it make sense that they would simply say they were sorry to me just to 'shut up my tantrum'?

Wouldn't it be an easy assumption for a reasonable person to get an idea that if they made peace with the 'disordered' person, it would be of benefit to them and take pity on the one with the MI?
