What phrases would you prefer he use then? How would you know they are generic phrases he learnt in school. I don't think they learn that way to begin with. I think they learn how to direct a conversation but I doubt they have a script to follow. I regularly work with students role playing as a client and I don't recall any one of them going about it as though it was scripted out.
