if you have DID/alters, each system differs with what can happen and can even change.

in mine, i used to be able to talk to several of them inside. then things changed, so big walls went up to where that doesn't/cannot happen now. i sometimes can hear some talk, but it's rare now. i cannot 'make' any of them talk to me or acknowledge me or answer my questions or anything. when they feel safe or the time is right, they let me know on their own. i cannot push or it can cause more harm and distress not just to myself but also the others.

so, each system differs. each alter even can differ with whether they know the host or other alters or not know any just like they can differ in the ability to communicate in certain ways (if they can at all), verbally inside, written communication, etc.

it's individual to each system how things work and change. your questions about specific things cannot be answered because we don't exist in your system to know the answers.
