Mindful living.... a transforming concept that has helped me deal with negative thinking and train my brain to mindfully listen and act from a place of self love and care.

I've just been reading .... "The MIndful Way through Depression". Its been a great guide for helping me to better understand and cope with my thinking and emotions. The book comes with a CD of guided meditations Jon-Kabat-Zinn. He's a pretty well known meditation teacher and has also written several books on the topic of mindfullness.

The authors define mindfullness as... "the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally to things as they are." They go on to say..... Mindfullness means paying attention to things as they actually are in any given moment, however they are, rather than as we want them to be..... It is the exact antithesis tot he type of ruminative thinking that makes low mmods persist and return.... With an increased ability to sustain mindfullness, we can explore what happens when our emotions are allowed to come and go in awareness with a non-judgemental attitude and self-compassion. "

Learning how to be more mindful with my thinking has taught me how to mindfully express self-love for myself without counter analysis clicking in to tear me back down.
