Document that Okie... It may be as you say.... time for them to put the paper work together and organized the disciplinary process. I'd still want to know precisely what your company's policy is on the issue. As an employee you should have a copy of the policy manual and it should tell you what the process is for this kind of behaviour. It could be covered within a code of conduct, discipline and/or harassment policies. Either way you should know the policies impacted so that you get a sense of what you can expect your company to do.
I'm just shocked that given that your complaint isn't the first formal complaint that they have received on the guy that they did fire him on the spot. But they do need to gather the evidence and make sure they dot their 'i's and cross their t's'.
You need to know that your company has taken your complaint seriously and that they have a clear, defined process for handling the matter then all you can do is trust that they will follow their own policy and procedures and deal with this guy accordingly.
Do take heed to the reminder to get your information from the right sources. Your HR department has a responsibility to keep you informed. You should not be left in the dark to wonder. Knock on their door every day for an update if you have to and do read your company's policy manual.
Sounds like you are hanging in pretty good considering.
Take good care of you.....
