I read something earlier that made me furious and that I can't seem to let go of. So I wanted to point out a few things for those who don't think they have anything to be grateful for.
Thanks for the health insurance that allows you to be treated for your issues, instead of turned away because you can't pay. That puts you above 45 million people in the richest country on the planet.
Thanks for the other people who pay taxes so you can have your state or federal health insurance if you don't pay through the nose for your own via a job.
Thanks for the ability to read and write, and the ability to pay for an Internet connection with which to disseminate your thoughts, meaning you have an education, some sort of shelter, and disposable income.
Thanks that when you had your morning cereal and milk, you could afford to eat today. That puts you above about 13 million people in America alone. Double thanks if you didn't have to use food stamps to buy it, because the average allotment allows you to spend a whole $1 per MEAL, NOT per item. Tell my friend from Senegal who had to beat somebody up for one piece of a bread a day, until somebody gave him a break and a chance at the things we take for granted, how bad life sucks.
Thanks you aren't risking losing your life in a war today so that the rest of us can have freedom of speech and religion.
It's all in how you look at it.
Happy Thanksgiving, for real.
