Many people go through setbacks in life, but some people don't seem to be able to bounce back from the sadness, not as quickly as the majority of people. So, I think there is a genetic element to it that controls the chemicals and the activity of the amygdala (there seems to be a correlation between active amygdala and depression) in the brain that may contribute to the cause.
Thanks for this!
