if you need an antipsychotic/tranquilizer, I'd recommend Abilify, personally. I have to take a high dose of it, but I do better on a lot of Abilify than I ever did on lower doses of other "atypicals." If your doc is gung ho about the injections, there's a once monthly Abilify injection, but its crazy expensive right now, and the pills are generic.

I do Orthomolecular with my psych drugs. Its high dose B3, vitamin c, vitamin e, b-complex, etc., with the psych drugs and counseling. I think I'm doing much better on the combined treatment than I would on either form of treatment alone. The psych drugs work fast and suppress certain problems, while the vitamins go to work in the brain and change your brain chemistry over the long haul, while also protecting your CNS+the rest of your body from the drugs. Something like that...
