Soooooo. This has been attacking me for about a year now.. We thought it was work related, (bilateral bursitis) so after 6 months of dealing with this pain, trying to meet the expenses of it through medical bills and such, I decided to go on workers compensation. Allllll these doctors telling me it's work related.

I've since had ultrasounds, MRI, and X-rays. With the ultrasound, I received steroid injections into both shoulder. And I felt great for about 2 hours!!! The the local anaesthetic wore off, and back came the pain.

MRI confirmed bursitis and then we discovered the 'os acromiale' (bone did not fuse). So this, predisposed me to bursitis and all wonderful impingement syndromes. X-rays further confirmed this.

Today, I saw the specialist orthopaedic surgeon who believes that likelihood or surgery helping is fairly low, so she doesn't recommend it at this stage if I can manage.

Moral of the story - my career is over and I can never do an overly manual job again AND I am in never ending pain. This is not at all ideal. And to make it even better, I have had treatment resistant depression for the past 2 and a half years. So pain is not helping depression, and depression is not helping pain.

Pain relief wise, I was basically told that I can keep up with the anti inflammatory drugs.. aaaand that's about it. So having that conversation, it all just gradually set in. I am going to be in pain for the rest of my life? And you're just meant to accept that's the way it is? How does this work? What sort of a life is that anyway? I understand that I will be fine, and whatever.. But, what the help does one do?
