The basic difference between "Tapping in" and "Regular" EMDR is that rather than reprocessing bad memories, that you process good thoughts first, to strengthen your thought process and how you respond internally to negative situations, and then later in the process, you work on changing the negative thoughts. She recommended this to me after I gave a partial disclosure on my childhood/adolescent years in one session. I primarily have seen been seeing her to help me deal with my daughter's hospitalizations, and diagnosis, and only dig into what's going on with me when everything is looking better for my daughter. Unfortunately, it's not very often that I am able to turn the conversation from my daughter. And I haven't seen her since November or December.
Do you need to be reminded that in order to take care of your daughter you have to take care of you first? Hmmmm? Being a caretaker is extremely hard and a lot of time the caretaker collapses before the patient. It is totally draining mentally and physically. Once you are down your immune system will follow. Please take the time to take care of you. Post reminders to do something good for you from time to time, okay?
