I think it depends. If you are able to get a job that can earn you enough money to live off of preferably while allowing you to save up some money every month then I would say get a job instead.

Otherwise, college may be the better bet. You can complete a FAFSA and get grants and loans which is I believe around 16 grand or so worth if you don't have an income. You could then find a cheap college that provides student housing and live off loans and grants while you focus on your education.

If you choose the latter, just be certain that you can not only make a good living off what you learn, but also enjoy it. Life is too short to be miserable working a job that you hate your whole life.
