I think you should follow through with your doctor and figure out what's going on. When I was 52 my periods were all over the place. It turned out that I had a cyst on my ovary, so had to have my ovary and Fallopian tubes removed. Then my gyn put me on a low-dose birth control pill. That regulated my periods so I just had one per month. Took the pill for a year, then stopped. That wa sa year ago and I haven't had a period since. I'm 54.
