I think he was expressing his medical opinion (and his worry). A couple of months without an episode doesn't mean you're all better by any means. And if you do have an episode sometimes the damage is done before the medication can take effect. Which is why so many people take it prophylactically . Your doctor could have been more tactful but I think it was his concern talking.
