It ticked me off that they claim system hopping is possible, that an alter from one system can hop into another system.Or that they can do system resets and get rid of all their alters and get completely new ones. That they can have superman,Harry Potter or Spiderman as alters. And so much more total B.S.
They have no clue what they are even talking about. And it's so insulting to those that really do have DID.They are making a joke out of a serious illness,it is a mockery and it's sickening to me.
They say you can choose which alters you want inside, that you can go into someone else's body and use their body for awhile. They claim you can just become a system just because you want to.So much B.S. I can't even remember all of it right now.And of course over 90% are self diagnosed.
It's so wrong. It's degrading and humiliating for anyone with true DID.
Normally those with true DID aren't even aware until they are diagnosed
They don't normally flaunt it or act like it's cool or funny
They don't compete with others over who has the most alters
They don't system hop or system reset
They don't develop DID because Mom or Dad wouldn't let them have a new phone
They don't develop it as a teenager
They don't spend so much time and effort online trying to prove to or convince other people that they really do have it
They don't say hey guess what,I'm dissociating right now, isn't that funny?
It's just so sickening to me! And it's because of things like this that DID isn't taken seriously, why people think it's a fake disorder.
I will be so glad when some other disease or disorder becomes trendy.

just a thought here. there are now many roll playing games where you play characters ie harry potter, sims,.... just about any character out there now.
it might be that this tumbler group was such a gaming group where everyone roll plays having a mental disorder.
some people find the sims roll playing pregnancy to be too much
some people find harry potter games roll playing witch craft too much.
some people find virtual reality roll playing drug addiction to be too much
and some people find virtual reality roll playing of mental disorders to be too much.
I do not. I find nothing wrong with virtual reality roll playing for teens and pre teens who may or may not have a mental disorder. (we dont know whether they actually have those disorders and if they do they may be just adding a twist so others on their game do not see through to their actually having the disorder)
Suggestion...look into the garden and see people who have or may not have DID roll playing being bears in a cave and other obviously pretend roll playing. sometimes being obnoxious and roll playing is a way to relieve stress and fears and other situations. if someone who did not know what psych central was and happened on those threads would they think these posts and threads playing pretend to be offensive and harmful to the disorder?
sometimes its so easy to jump to conclusions and judge someone for what we may think of as faking especially when we dont know the whole story.
I am the first person who when encountering things in movies, books and online will get irritated/ triggered, so for me I dont google DID and other mental disorders. I rely on my treatment providers to point me in the right direction.
that said I have been in virtual reality groups in the past on mental and physical health problems and those I have been in were not meant to be literal representations of the disorders and diseases. they were for playing, entertainment, for those who want to get away from their emotional and physical pain reality and go ahead and make fun of their situations, entertain their self rather than feel the pain, find the positives and build the most outrageous avatars and profiles you can. in other words be able to escape reality for a bit.
