My therapist does person-centered therapy with me. This means she provides me with empathy and lots of unconditional positive regard. I direct my own therapy and she provides the support, guidance and structure so that I can discover my own solutions within myself. It's also known as Rogerian therapy. I love this type of therapy because I am not viewed as flawed and my thoughts are not viewed as problematic. I feel like my T sees me as a just a person trying to work toward a more balanced and centered way of life. This type of therapy has helped me more than I could have ever imagined or hoped for --- I would say it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I truly feel deep down inside me that I am a whole person..not broken at all.
