I would say the feelings are very normal, in my opinion. The key is that you are not acting on the feelings.
As a human, you are full of emotions. They pop up on their own and what you feel depends on the situation. If you are concerned, I would definitely talk to your counselor about them.
I know that I have gone from wanting to hug someone, to wanting to smack them upside the head. I didn't smack them, so I considered that I have pretty good self control.
