What was successful for my son was that he had an early morning job (5am -9am). This allowed him to study during the afternoons. He earned extra money coaching in the early evenings.
His morning job was looking after the property of several businesses. He gathered garbage in the spring to fall and shovelled sidewalks in the winter. Hard work but it paid $25/hr.
The thing to do is keep in mind the volume of studying and homework involved. This will depend to a great extent on your choice of studies. For example the liberal arts (ex history, philosophy) and the social sciences (psychology, sociology) require an extraordinary amount of reading. This will make working evenings near impossible. On the other hand, sciences will require lab work which might make scheduling evening work a little easier. And then of course, it depends on the student and commitment involved.
