hi. buspar and benzodiazepines work by completely different mechanisms. The buspar isn't as effective (in large groups of people, overall) as benzodiazepines.

1mgs/Klonopin isn't a lot, but to find your valium (diazepam) equivalent dose, multiply x 20. So, you were on 20mgs/Valium, which is 1/2 the old school recommended max of 40mgs/day. I think your taper is kinda fast, especially since you've been on the kpins for so long. A .5mgs reduction is 1/2 your dose (big cut) and also 10mgs/diazepam, so...yeah, to me, that seems rapid(ish).

Has your prescriber talked about a different drug for anxiety? gabapentin, maybe lyrica? Those drugs sometimes help anxiety and can help take the edge off bzd tapers. Some doctors switch kpin over to valium (or librium) and then taper off that, for a slower, more tolerable taper.
