Yeah forging is fun. Unfortunately it ends up being a small percentage of what I do because there is so much finishing work. But I do like it.. I actually focus when I'm at the forge. Too hard to drift when I'm polishing.

I also want to make log canoes, wooden houses, use my forge for making glass, melt enamel into things, bronze casting, jewelry etc. It's really hard to stay focused when you have a shop like mine and a brain like mine. I have the stuff to make just about anything... and I get myself in lots of trouble because of that.

Ha.. I love the Fitzgerald song. Come up here in the summer and you will find somebody singing it in every bar. When I first moved here I worked on boats in fisheries.. and the 'Witch of November' can be pretty ugly out there. Sometimes worst than what I saw on the Pacific.

Mossanimal, I just checked your profile and now I'm the jealous one. I regularly spend hours watching YouTube videos on forging. The Northmen channel is a favourite of mine, makes me want to forge knives, make log canoes and a wooden house!
The boat sounds great, I've always been interested in Lake Superior, probably because my dad was into folk music and Gordon Lightfoot's Edmund Fitzgerald was a regular song. My dad was bipolar too and he certainly had a few funny ideas over the years. I remember my mum's dismay when he left to go shopping and came back with a huge 1970's Toyota in bright yellow (this was around 1990).
