Have you ever tried dbt? It's a type of therapy. Typically you would get involved with a group but you can study it yourself. There are online courses. It's helpful for emotional regulation. I have found with bipolar if the depression has no trigger there's really no way to stop it but dbt can help manage your emotional response to triggers like bad news so they don't send you into a tailspin.
