Hello Jennifer: I'm sorry I don't know a lot about this & can't really offer much in the way of insight. My impression is that fetishes can be extremely difficult to break. And, as such, it seems like the recommendation typically is that people who have them simply find ways to indulge them safely.

I do believe you are correct. Your family cannot help you with this. You need to seek professional mental health services including ongoing therapy & psychiatry if prescription med's are needed. One of the main problems with fetishes often seems to be the guilt & shame people have over them. Therapy can be helpful in coping with any guilt & shame you are carrying. And, of course, psych med's may be helpful if in fact you are struggling with schizophrenia or psychosis now or in the future.

I see this is your first post here on PC. So... to PsychCentral… from the Skeezyks! May the time you spend here be of benefit.

PsychCentral is a great place to get information as well as support for mental health issues. The more you post, & reply to other members’ posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are social groups you can join & chat rooms where you’ll be able to connect with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) Lots of great stuff! So please keep posting!
