I can only say for myself and my experience. I trusted too much, and people are not always honest and gossip was an issue in my small town. If it was a bigger city and a small group I might go. My therapist actually brought up an issue that was just between her and me after I asked her to let it go. She used it as an example, but I was hurt.
I couldn't really find it helpful as it is kind of like taking turns, and someone usually ends up taking most of the time and I didn't feel like it helped. But if you think you could just benefit from spending time around others and only share what you want, it's a good way to spend some time and know you aren't the only one dealing with depression.
