I had a plain old common name growing up. My MOther told me that there was a movie star named Debbie Reynolds & everyone was naming their kids Debbie at the time I was born (1953). She picked the base name Deborah spelling from the bible.

I hated growing up in school with 5 other kids with the same name, so I decided that I would research a name for my daughter & she would not be stuck having the same name as everyone else because I wanted her to be an individual.

I had heard a name in one of my college classes "Chandra". That was such a beautiful sound, so I looked into the meaning. Our family had a mans name that was commonly used of RAY(mond), & the famale spelling was Rae. In putting the meanings together, the complete meaning of her name is "brighter than a shining star".

I was so excited when the name came together with such a beautiful meaning & my daughter even though at first she struggled with the name, because very proud of it & after getting continual complements on how beautiful her name was, she calmed down about having a different name.

After growing up with a common name, I felt good about coming up with a beautiful name for my daughter.
