Hi Dan!
My strategies:

1) Physical activity like running, swimming, etc... That make the muscles tired and it becomes more easy to sleep (but please don't do that before bedtime).
2) Slow down some time before bedtime, drink a cup of herbal tea, warm cocoa ... The warm drink (no alcohol) will help your body to relax and come into sleeping mood.
3) Relaxation exercises. There are plenty to choose among at Youtube.
4) Regular meals and small breaks during the day!
