I think it's such an individual decision. I had a support group recommended to me by my therapist and I didn't go. She asked me why not and I simply said I didn't want to. I am very out going and chatty (kind of loud), but it wasn't the right fit for me.
There isn't a right answer overall, just the right one for you. Do what feels right and if you go once and don't like it, you don't have to do it again.
