What I find "funny" is how when we let go of some of the concerns and doing "everything" the way we normally do it, let a couple things slide to give ourselves breathing room, other people pick up the slack or things muddle along until we can pick things up again.
Call in sick, let something slide, go to bed right after dinner with a good novel :-) You've a right to your own life not worrying so much about the other people; the adults are supposed to be worrying about themselves and the older children are okay without us for a bit.
You don't have to run completely away but you do have to go "somewhere" where you can rejuvinate for a little bit. I'd call in sick and "go to work" but escape for a day by myself instead. I'd call the receptionist at work and tell them to tell anyone who calls I'm "busy" each time or away from my desk or in the men's room, etc. and just have a day to yourself doing thinking or wandering, window shopping or throwing bread to the ducks if it's not too cold where you are.
