I got a text from my pharmacy saying my script (unknown to me which) was ready for pickup. So later in the day, I go and ask for it. Yup there it is. But the tech says there's a printout on it saying insurance won't pay for lithium anymore and is there another drug I can take in its place? Maybe I should ask my doctor about that, he says. "You can pay for it yourself," he suggests. "Its only $30." Now, I had just gotten lithium filled less than a week ago, so I was really confused. "Maybe its too early to fill?" I suggested. Oh no, no, its my insurance and I should call them and come back later. So I called my pdoc's nurse. She called my insurance for me, AND the pharmacy and called me back. The script was simply too soon to fill and my insurance still covered it. Why on Earth would the pharmacy try to fill my lithium so soon and then try to get me to pay out of pocket for it?
