I think it's silly because now I'm using a USB thumbdrive a lot between the internet computer and my intranet workstation...and thumbdrives can be infected too...
We do have wireless so people can use their smartphones but honestly I doubt the wisdom of that.
The move affects even the IT department haha. Which is really annoying because I use the internet for work daily. I ended up bringing in my old laptop (with regularly updated antivirus, script blockers on web browser etc) so I don't have to walk across half the IT department floorplan.
I'm guessing the VIP pitching a fit didn't read or didn't understand the giant header of the "commonly used links" document that's served whenever you click a link to an internet site on an intranet computer.
It actually tell you to save the document via thumb drive to an internet PC then open the document there and click the link you want.
You can also just use your smartphone QR code reader because we created QR codes for each link too.
Anyway, I was...literally and completely seriously asked to create a guide with pictures for "How to Save A Document into a USB Thumbdrive and then plug it into a internet PC, open the document and click whatever link you want in the document". So I just created it, but I feel it's insulting their intelligence...I hope they don't really need it!

Hugs... once had to write a picture guide for another developer (who unfortunately was my boss), describing how to execute a java-file (you basically open a terminal and type java filepath).
I really don't get why you did that... I couldn't have worked without intranet/internet access at the same time. I'm wondering how long it'll take until you have to revert that
I went to university although I have vacation, but I don't trust myself to be home alone all day. Hope T will be able to help me today...
