This morning I did my normal routine of saying good morning to and telling all my fish that I loved them as I went around my apartment feeing all four tanks. Everyone was looking happy to get their meal as usual. This evening I noticed my pleco acting a bit strange at the back of the tank. He seemed to be poking at something. When I went to take a closer look I found Geodon next to the filter intake. He looked unharmed and peaceful.

All of my fish are named after drugs. Geodon joined my fish family over five years ago. When I named him I had no idea how appropriate the name would become.

When Geodon arrived home he was belly-up in the bag before I introduced him to the tank. I thought the stress of the transport was too much for him and that he was gone. But moments later he flipped over and was the active little fish I picked out at the fish shop.

Over the past five years, he has continued to live up to his name by doing the odd little things that Geodon did. He found the funniest places to sleep like wedged behind the heater. He swam in every possible direction from upside down to sideways. Any other fish and I would have been worried. He had a quirky little personality that made him Geodon.

Thanks for over five years little guy! You will be missed.
