Hi gb, I struggle with an ED too. I don't have a lot of answers, but at least know that I understand and that you are not alone. There are going to be times where we fall and let our eating behaviors get out of control, but the only thing we can do is get back up and keep trying. When I have had a bit of a relapse, it helps me to try to think of a new approach or a new set of foods to focus on. The novelty of a new diet seems to keep my interest and helps me stay motivated to eat healthy. But...I have not been doing so good the fast few weeks, so maybe my plan is not working as good as it could be....I truly do understand the embarrassment and shame. Those are 2 big emotions that help keep me trapped in my bad eating cycle.
I noticed you have a sobriety counter--I am in recovery too. Congrats on staying clean and sober! That is a great accomplishment!
